Ok so I am in the process of attempting a midnight taillight mod, basically what i did was cut taillights and painted chrome bezel with metallic black paint, and then plasti welded it back together.

you should be able to see how it looks from first picture, once i finish second one tomorow I'll take some picts with my digital camera

I basically followed this guyz idea,
his diy inst relly complete but was enough for me.
I am not sure if plasti weld is the right term, but basically you melt the plastic with soldering iron or plastic welder. That link explains it much better than I can lol, and has links to all tools needed.

Did you do the whole lens or leave the areas with lights untouched?
Looks good and I like the idea but are these legal in your area?

these would be legal anywhere. There is only one reflector inside and i masked it off, everything else was blacked out. covers that go on top of leds are clear so there was no reason to black them out and reduce light output since once you put them on a black housing they look dark and leds shine through as they were before. The coolest thing about this mod is you cant get ticket because lights are not tintened, only the bezel behind the lens that was once chrome just for the looks, is not just black for the looks.

haha soo true
but I really dont think alot of ppl will attempt to do this, if you think about not alot of ppl painted their own headlights, and this is soo much harderd and time consuming

From the pics, it looks like you just painted the whole lens.
Waiting for detailed on-car pics.
