Can you plus a GPS into the IPOD aux so that the screen show the route on the screen?

I have searched and found nothing ... My idea was to connect a GPS to the IPOD connection so the screen could pop up in the dash and even maybe have the guidance sound in the car speakers ...

Maybe it's a dumb question but I dont know ...

Thanks for the help !

never tried it, but theoretically it should work as long as the gps unit can output video & sound. this would only be useful if you could find a way to have the video work while moving..

If you are referring to the AUX jacks (Red White & Yellow) then yes. Garmin GVN52 or GVN53 is about the best only good option.

Forum rules (#23) dictate we cannot discuss bypassing the screen motion lock-out. I will simply tell you there is a way. Search Google but not this forum.

The iPod Touch has no GPS receiver. Your approximate location is determined using available information from local Wi-Fi networks. For this purpose, it's useless in a car.

I've thought about picking up an iPhone 3GS just for the nav function. Not getting a plan for the phone, just using it as an iPod Touch with nav capabilities. Craigslist usually has a few people are trying to get rid of.

That, or I've also tried to find a good way to rest my iPad on the center console. As long as I'm going straight, I'm good, but throw in a turn of any sharpness, and it falls. Don't like windshield mounts. Oh well.

I think you're still going to required a phone/data plan in order to download mapping while the GPS app is running.
A Garmin would be better (for routing/POI's), cheaper and many of them play mp3's. You don't need to mount it in the windshield for it to pick up sats well. I used to keep mine down by the ashtray and sometimes in the cup holder and it worked perfectly.
