So I woke up and decided to....

Clean my TB... I started getting the hesitation that everyone talks about. So it only took about 35 mins to do both of them. Holy Cow they were filthy!!! Dont worry I have pics. All I can say is that the car runs so smooth now and the idle is dead on at 650rpm. No idle relearn or anything needed. OKay here are the pics....

Dirty!!!

Clean

How many miles did you have on your car for the "dirty" pic?

Guys, I've got to say that although that may appear dirty, and perhaps is considered dirty for our VQ's, it is NOWHERE near what's considered dirty on many other cars. That's just a little tinge of varnish; when it can get as bad as a full layer of tar.

TB cleaner from Autozone. Cost me about $3. Used a toothbrush and rags for scrubbing with.

Very true, i had similar experience in all my older cars but they were all cable controlled and thus the effects of the TB being that dirty was not that noticable until much later, however on all most all these electronic TB cars, even that much dirt is enough to cause uneven idle and butterfly valve movement...

Its well worth 30 mins of time to do it. I bought the new TB Gaskets from Infiniti for $18. Im going to tackle my Tune up and Serpentine belt in 2 weeks. Then its time for the Dyno to get some base lines.
