I got fuct!!!!

Bought my 07 last october from Infiniti of Denver. Checked out the carfax, looked good. I took it to another infiniti dealer to check out an exhaust rattle. THEY ran the carfax and pulled up that the car was in a wreck in Jan. of 09. WTF. I would never buy a car like this that had been wrecked. I feel lied lied lied to. Any suggestions before I go postal on the purchasing dealer?

I have noticed the front and rear bumpers look a tiny bit different. IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE AFTERMARKET. I really feel that if I am buying a Used Infiniti from and Infiniti dealer, that I should be notified it has aftermarket parts.
Even if I am too dumb to look at the carfax. Which Im not.

Thats terrible, did you just miss out of the accident part in the first carfax report or you think they intentionally removed it from it? If it the former then that has to be illegal and get you some settlement for sure if you still have the previous report.

Wow! If there was a carfax, both dealer AND Carfax are going to be responsible.

^ No but if the carfax is showing damage now, its highly probable that it wasnt showing it back in october, carfax doesnt just update car info later on, its automatic when a claim is reported imo.

This is true but Carfax's point of even existing is to give you peace of mind when investing in such an expensive purchase. Carfax can be held responsible either way. When I worked at a dealership, I saw two such cases. Carfax took responsibility for one and the dealership took responsibility for the other. Knowing this, I always use Auto Check. For some reason, they have better info... another reason why dealerships don't use Auto Check!

Auto Check is soooo much better than Carfax. This is besides the point, kool yaar is right, Carfax just won't update wreck info later on. It sounds like the dealership purposely ommitted this part of the report, sounds like it's on the dealership, hope you still have the orginal Carfax!

Carfax, even Autocheck, may not update immediately. On my last car, it was rear-ended and it took both nearly a year to update the records. I could've sold it then and there with the "clean" record, but did not feel comfortable doing so.

I believe Carfax has a year coverage for these types of situations as long as you registered the car within 90 days of purchase, check with them and see if they're willing to buy back the car for the price you paid.

I have been preaching this for years. I see Carfax as a masterful marketing scheme and nothing more. I would never trust its completeness; its only a first cursory glance of the most obvious and egregious info reported against a car's title. My sympathies to the OP.

Autocheck reported problems on several cars with clean carfax reports when I was looking last year.

I don't have a problem buying one that has been wrecked but it needs to be factored in to the price....

I personally had a car with a clean carfax which later showed 4 that's right FOUR accidents on it. Three were under $1000 but one was over $3000.

Car Proof seems to work up here for Canadians.
