Like the corvettes have 2 different levels to their traction control, off and somewhat off. I've only had my 05 g35 for about a month and with the vdc on I get it skipping tires around corners and while off (even though im not try to) I don't feel it wanting to slid at all. I was just hoping to get a little more feel out of it but noticed no difference. Even launching I get no wheel spin but it is a 5at with lsd and I haven't tried power braking it yet. I noticed most of you posting have x's too so maybe that different being awd. Anyways that's what I've noticed.
Nah, I gotta call BS on your buddy there. Maybe he's referring to the automatics or something, but with my '07 6MT I can light them up, drift/power slide, do donuts, and whatever. When VDC is turned off in my car, ITS OFF!

If I couldn't turn the VDC off I wouldn't be able to be the drift king that I am.

Yeah, that VDC button is a very powerful thing, apparently switching it off even defeats one's own modesty.

I have to agree with a lot of the posters when I first got my car I had no idea what the button did so I would test it out for long periods of time. It is much like driving older cars with no fancy correction tools, its fun but you have to know how to drive like that. Mostly I drive with it on now a days unless I am alone on a back road an its raining which can be fun drifting around turns!! The dealer also told me its ok to drive with it off, but be aware of the danger.
Ps if you want a cheap addition to make the car fun add the sway bars!

It is true. Why do you think you never see any g35's or 370z's in any type of drift event or things of that sort. That's because the traction control is not fully shut off. The vdc off button is used for when your car is in need of some extra power to the wheels like if you're car is stuck.
