Quote: Battery voltage good?

I have a Stage 1 SC kit which I got a few months ago. Won't install it anytime soon though as I'm too busy with college.
Well that depends on which batt voltage you are talking about. If it's the read out from my blitz, then no, it jumps up and down a lot, as high as 16.9v and as low as 11.3v, and most of the time it's in the 15s which i know is high, but this issue have been with me since the first fuel stop on the way back from GTM. But when we did voltage check on the battery itself using a volt meter, everything seemed just fine. So it is really strange.

i think you need a bit more experience with gauges cause only the good ones read that fast and jump, tho batt shouldnt go from 16-13v and vs... tho ive seen it.

if my gauges dont give me those readings then i start to think they are faulty.

from what im reading so far you dont have alot of experience with cars...which is not a bad thing, but before you start criticizing things you have to understand things.

you are on your way, but not quite there yet.

as for the tuning... your local friends recommending toma, i think you should really give lightspeed a second thought cause they have done alot more boosted 350's and G35's than toma, up rev or not, with alot more success. its just a bit more hassle.

Thanks for the advise, it is very true that i don't have a lot of experience with cars. I do know a lot of data from manufactures but i really don't know enough about aftermarket tunning. It has been a huge learning experience for me and it is the first car i have ever put a aftermarket forced induction system on.

As for lightspeed, i do trust that Cam has done some amazing work, the only reason why i haven't gone to him yet is because of the distance and the fact that I'm so busy with school and work. Toma is local, so i can just go see him on a Saturday. Going to lightspeed requires a bit more planning. I will do as Sam suggested and get a throttle relearn first after i get the batt voltage sorted out. If that doesn't solve everything, then i will contact lightspeed for sure. Sam is pretty certain that the tune is fine, so i will just trust that for now.

Again, thanks for following my progress and i appreciate the advise.

Update,

So over the holidays, with the help of speed-options, we managed to swap a new alternator in, this was a lot harder then i could have imagined. But still it is done now, and the batt and ebrake flashing issue is no more

But it's not all good, during the uninstall process i noticed the inside seal for the lower idler pulley has came off and it has been spitting grease everywhere. This might be one of the reason why my alternator went. So now i have to call up GTM again to ask for a replacement, will update on how that goes.

As for driving, the car is still idling extremely high, running a bit rich, and the transmission will still disable DS mode sometimes

Still will get a idle relearn as Sam has insisted on as soon as i can, see if that will solve some of the issues, hopefully it does.

It's been another 2 month, and the end is insight, at least i hope no other issues will arise.

After the alternator swap, the voltage has been consistent and no more flashing batt and ebrake light.

Also i would just like to say getting the replacement pulley from GTM has been a great experience, Mike was responsible for this. I emailed the issue with attached pics, and they emailed me back in the afternoon and the item was on it's way with in the same day. So credit to where credit is deserved, this replacement process has been great.

Now on to hopefully the end of issues.

The issue that i have discovered which in my opinion is the cause of all the other problems that i have been having is that my header to cat gasket is leaking on both sides. I always thought my exhaust is leaking somewhere since during cold starts standing beside the car is completely unbearable with exhaust fume smell and sometimes during regular driving with AC or heater on and fresh outside air mode, exhaust fume will get blown into the cabin. The interesting thing is that i have had this smell issue ever since i picked the car up from GTM, so i guess the exhaust gasket must have blown when the car is on the dyno. This does make me wonder how is the car tunned with 2 blown exhaust gaskets since that would effect quite a few parameters.

My next step is to actually replace my berks HFC with Motordyne ART pipe that i already got. It's the second gen with the ceramic coating, i asked my friend's shop to make a set of the header to cat gasket, and i plan on installing it with the gasket plus red RTV. I still find it interesting that both motordyne and fast intention is purely using red RTV for test pipe or HFC use, in my opinion pure red RTV is questionable. So far i haven't heard of anyone having any issues with leaks by using both. This install will happen the up coming weekend, hopefully everything goes well.

After that i have arranged a dyno tune at Lightspeed Innovations, on the 24th, to get the tune checked over and adjusted for test pipe use instead of HFC. Hopefully with the tune adjustment, it will be the end of the check engine light and unstable idle issue.

Fingers crossed i will report progress after the dyno day.

I'm in for the results of this. BTW, what size pulley are you using?

I'm not looking to get more power, just mainly to check over the tune, but i will post result.
I'm actually not sure which pulley i have, but i do make 10psi, so i'm thinking it's probably a 94 or 96mm.

Cool, I have the ART pipes too, and I was hoping everything would fit perfectly if I upgraded to stage 2.

I think i'm the first with a stage 2 and 5AT to try and fit the ART pipes, From my observation, the edge of the air intake filter sit just infront of the header to cat flange. So the pipes should clear just fine, but my only worry is the offset resonator might interferers with the trans oil cooler adapter since it's mounted on the passenger side of the trans.

I'm glad you have been doing your homework on this. This is definitely helping me with my future plans as well. I'm dropping my car off at GTM this summer for a possible Stage two upgrade.

Been following this thread for a while and your pioneering is much appreciated by those of us that would consider this for ourselves.

How soon would you be able to post up any videos of the car (pre or post this last stretch of work or at the dyno even)?
