You are severely misinformed. NO car comes from the factory with anything other than 4300K HID lights. It is the standard for a reason. 4300K gives you the best light output and visibility. Manufacturers could care less about pretty blue lights- the reason why HIDs are available and optional/standard is because of the increased visibility.

Could you imagine the kind of lawsuits manufacturers would get if they sold people cars equipped with 8000k lights? If I had a car that had anything more than about 5000-6000k, I would go back to halogen lights. People would be crashing all over the place at night.

Bottom line- ricers miss the point of HIDs. HID lights were designed first and foremost to allow greater visibility than halogen headlights. They were not designed to be pretty. It is just an afterthought that they happen to be much more appealing to look at.

you can have purple but blue blue ya can get you in trouble ... but that cop was just being a dick ... im sure you could take it to court or something, i dont know about you but if your car is not under your name, that ticket gets dismissed in court in a heartbeat.

I used to have Pink HIDs on my sportbike and never got in a single problem, and let me tell you they were annoying as hell lol, rather be seen than not

Long as you can prove that your bulbs are "DOT" approved, the cop has no case. It will be dismissed. So swap them out and "prove" they are approved. Go get it inspected by a reputable dealer or mechanic.

I don't think towing would be the answer, but I don't disagree with you getting a ticket in the slightest way. I wish more police officers would crack down on this idiocy. Looking at cars using anything higher than 6000k bulbs isn't just an eyesore, but it can also be dangerous. There is a reason why headlights are designed to mimic daylight colors. If you want to drive around with these lights in your car, you are putting yourself and others at risk possibly.

Not to mention all the aftermarket HID kits that people are dropping in their cars that had Halogen lights. Those damn things will flat blind you, even on low beams.

^they are not informed on how they work at all...they don't even try to adjust the height and they spray all over the place looks horrible. especially here in texas when people with huge trucks have them and its right in your rearview mirror. 5% tint took care of that

I have seen quite a few aftermarket plug and play HID kits in reflector housings that temporarily left me seeing bright lights after passing away from them. I think it is generally more hazardous to the person driving the car with the illegal HIDs.

However, I won't argue the (lack of) logic that is implied when one decides to downgrade to poorer visibility lighting and claim that nothing is affected outside of getting fashionable and bluer lights.

For a few moments, absolutely. People have differing sensitivity to light, and as such the light might affect one person more than another.
