Exclamation Nissan Matic S or Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF?

I posted earlier about several fluid capacities and types and got a couple of very good answers, thank you. Ready to pull the trigger on a full transmission flush. Matic S and Mobil 1 synthetic ATF are both $8 and change/qt.

Can't really find an answer whether Mobil 1 or other synthetic ATF's are compatible. The only thing I can find is Mobil1 racing saying it's compatible with Matic J http://www.mobil1racingstore.com/mo1syatf.html

What do you think, can I or better yet should I use a synthetic ATF or stick with Matic S? Thanks.

Go with Matic-S especially if the car is still under warranty. If your transmission goes bad, Nissan can easily detect the type of fluid used--they can and will deny warranty work just based on this.

They don't mind you using substitute fluid for the rest, but they specifically state Matic for the tranny and it must be for good reason.

If you are not under warranty I would use some GM synchromesh in there as well. a few good friends with high hp vw R32's and a few BMW guys locally swear by it.

^ They may be good for those vehicles, but Nissan transmissions are finicky with fluid -- i wouldn't suggest messing with it at all.

Steve, you're welcome. Supposedly Matic-S is a semi-synth, btw. Good luck!

^ whs, read your manual and apparently it states that if you dont use Nissan Matic-S then your warranty claim for tranny can be declined. There is also a TSB(Please follow link and read) stating this, to keep dealers from fixing tranny issues with cars that dont have Matic-S in them.

Also Matic-S is synthetic verison of J from what i was told by my dealer when i went to pick some up for my FX which took both J and S
