i just p-dipped my gril about 5-6 coats let it cure then hit it with about 3 coats of clear coat! looks....HORRIBLE lol, but mainly because of the texture. the bumpy texture that p-dip leaves is even more noticable since its shiny. im going to wet sand the plastadip and spray black gloss paint i think that will look better then the clearcoat imo.

You sand the chrome finish off, prime and paint.Originally Posted by ericks_G

If you are able to DIY with plastidip then you should be able to DIY with paint too. Just take your time and do a good job sanding and cleaning between coats.

my friend was able to wetsanded his and left it smooth ...maybe because it has a clear coat on top it made it alot harder and was able to withstand a light grit. Originally Posted by rpm&my_G35

6 coats is nowhere near thick enough, but you're getting there. I think i did at least twice that on my grille and it still didn't come off in one piece.Originally Posted by ericks_G

If that's the effect, i vote for that as well. But for something removable and is actually rather impact resistant, i like PD.Originally Posted by LordFappington

what about spraying some black gloss paint over the plasti dip....anyone done this and were able to peel off easily?
