rear view mirror broke off help!

While just cruising on the freeway my rear view mirrow just fell off and cracked the spot where it holds onto the window and when it fell it swung and made a huge crack down the middle of my windshield.

is this covered under warrenty?

That has to be covered under warranty if you were just driving and the mirror fell. That's an injury issue.

Doesnt seem plausible that the mirror just fell off and caused the crack and thus would be hard to convince the dealership too, im guessing a more plausible theory could be that a decent size rock hit the windshield at the point where the rearview mirror is attached causing the crack and the mirror to fall off.

Obviously it could be the other way around as well but it will be hard to convince the dealership if their anything like mine, however if theyre nice and helpful then you might have a shot

If it was a rock hit, there should usually be a tiny chip at the point of impact; is there one? They will definitely look for it. If there isn't one, they will most likely try and say that you must have bumped the mirror really hard and caused it to break (it happens). Either way, I don't see the dealership covering it; insurance may, but I'd be amazed if the dealer did.
