Got some stuff installed today!
Got my Megan RTPs, FI Exhaust, and hotchkis rear sway installed today by a buddy at a local shop(Won't name here, PM me if you are in Austin area and want the name, since removing working cats is illegal) - oh did I mention mine suddently broke . I was gonna do it myself, and I am glad I didn't - the exhaust I bought off another member here the hanger was bent 20 degrees, and getting the cats off was a b$tch! It took the tech 4 hours to get them off, and 1 bolt on each cat (the hard ones to get to) ended up snapping off into the old cats. One of them was cross threaded at the factory into the header and took over an hour alone, with special stud sockets, bp baster type lube, torches, etc. I would have never gotten them off - I even sprayed them with BP blaster the night before. If it were the exhaust, install wouldn't be too bad, but the studs on those cats are too hard to remove.
Just got the car back, sounds sick! It's pretty loud under throttle, I am hoping the TPs will settle down a bit after I break them in (Exhaust was used to it was already broken in).
For anyone who installs HFCs or TP's, make sure to get new header studs and nuts and they may break or be too rusty to reuse anyways. I had a hard time finding them from infiniti locally, but you can use 2009 370Z ones instead. They are buck cheaper each, and you can pick them up from most nissan dealers (nut part #s are the same I think) but are also a buck cheaper(each) a nissan dealer vs. the infiniti dealer. Some cats/HFC come with new hardware, the Megan RTPs only came with gaskets and no studs or nuts so get some before you attempt it.
Can't believe how restricted the stock system is, it looks like less than 2" pipes before the mufflers after the y pipe.
added a couple pics, I need to add some more with it installed with sound clips, probably tomorrow or this weekend.
