Got the itch to mod (new owner)
So, I've fought the urge for a month now, but I'm gonna have to go ahead to treat the new girl to something tasty.
I'm looking for good bang for my buck, and would like some added hp, and maybe a little extra sound if it's resonable and tasteful.
Intake a good choice for my first mod? I know most people like the Stillen duals, and they look awesome, but are a little pricey. Can anyone offer advice on the other intakes like Fujita, R2C, Injen, JWT, etc.? Or point me in the right direction? Or, are the Stillen just the way to go?
Other mods like HFC a better option for some power?

For intake, it seems like none of them give any gains, although uprev claims the stillen gen3 will get you some (see the epic intake thread). IMO 500 bucks for so little hp isn't worth it, but the sounds it adds is very agressive and a lot of people like it.

I guess I should mention I've got an 07 X...
I'll have to look for that epic intake thread, but from the little bit of reading I've done I thought some of the intakes are claiming 5-10WHP gains. I need to change my air filter anyway, may go ahead and consider the R2C or one of the more affordable ones.
I would definitely like to reduce some of the understeer and add some more stability, but don't really want a much harsher ride (daily driver)...what are the sway bar options for a G35X? Can anyone comment on the effect of new sways on the X?

Well, as long as you qualify it as being on their dyno rather than true whp, your comment is valid, but it sounds like Churches dyno needs still to get proper correction factors or a recalibration.
(If you have any doubts, just google it. They're known for inflated numbers)

Welcome first off!
I've got the stillen gen 3 and berk resonated test pipe's and here is my two cents...
Not like I have done much on this car but if I were to remake the decision on the parts I bought I would
not get the stillen gen 3 intake instead a SRI because It's alot of work to install if you don't have the right tools for and the whole rain factor. SRI's are generally safer for the engine imo but then again gains may be a little less with that said... how much more are you really going to get out of a cai. I would go fully with exhaust components they are more fairly priced and the gains are a bit more noticeable.
My next addition will be a y-pipe not because I'm bored but curious as to what little changes will be made to the sound of the car and the hp gain.

Welcome to DRIVER, Funky!
Oh no, not the mod itch....
Intakes don't offer anything other than sound but it's worth the price. Exhaust, MotorDyne is the way to go, best quality and sound along with additional RWHP....but like all quality mods it ain't cheap. If you can afford the MD exhaust maybe you'd like his ART pipes. Now is a good time to get a Osiris tune, cost is $500+ but you will gain no less than 25 RWHP and it feels so good under your right foot!

2. HKS Dry filters or K&N Oiled ~ 55.00
3. HPS Silicone hose ~ 110
4. Exhaust Fast Intentions all the way ~ 1,300
5. Osiris Tune ~ 500 to 700
The sum is around 2,600 bucks = 40 to 45 whp
More power ?
6,200 for supercharger + install ?? = a lot
Your choice

Thanks for all the replies, some good info!
How does the Osiris tune work? Do you have to ship off your ECU? What does it change, timing, fuel trim? I'd love to go FI, but at this point I can't justify the cost.
Sounds like HFC or resonated test pipes might be a good choice for me...but what will the sound/volume be like with those options? Do the test pipes make the exhaust smell? Are they really raspy?
What's the added power difference HFC vs. test pipes?

test pipes have better air flow to HFC
as mentioned before if you live in a smog check state HFC are the way to go, UNLESS you have the $$$ and can get the Motordyne XYZ w/ HFC option then you can run test pipes and still pass smog
i agree with Garry Motordyne products are the way to go they yield the best gains and their exhausts sound nice, Fast intentions is a very close second
