Hard Revving?

My G is 2008 and currently has 44,000 Ive read in a couple of online articles that it suggest to at times rev the engine hard a couple of times between fill ups to get some of the engine build up out and some gunk out. Anyone else read about something like this? Thanks

Is this the rotary forum? LoL I'm young in the G community, but I've yet to hear this on our engine. Could be true, but you would def. want to rev it under load and not just sitting idle.

^ whs, revving it at idle is one if the worst things you can do to an engine especially considering the thousands of youtube vids ppl upload of their exhaust notes and keep revving to redline again and again for a lengthy period at idle... Just drive your car at WOT a couple of times and that should help with any buildup.

However considering that todays premium gasolines have some many additives and detergents, if you keep using good gas you should have no serious deposits to worry about.

Haven't heard anything about it...I just started a night shift for my job in the Air Force and now every time I'm at a stop light in the middle of the night I usually WOT to about 85-90mph hahaha if I ever get pulled over i'll just explain to the police officer that I'm "cleaning the gunk from my engine"
