G35xS vs. G35x w/ Nav

I am looking at two G35x's, both are Premium and one has the sport package and the other has navigation.

The sport has 40K miles and the navigation one has 36K miles on it.

Both cost $22,970 and are from the same dealer.

I was just wondering if the sport is really worth it since it's essentially is a wheel/tire, seat, paddle shifter package. I had been leaning towards getting a G35x with nav but hadn't seen too many sports.

Thanks.

Well, as an S owner without the nav, I feel I made the right choice. The xS actually has a different front tuned suspension according to specs. The front fascia looks WAY better than the non-sport version. The paddle shifters are pretty useful for pushing it on curvy roads(and just plain fun). 18" wheels do help with the driving performance, but that is easily remedied on any car. The adjustable seat bolsters do their job, but might not be comfortable all the time or for everyone.

I use my iPhone for directions on my (frequent) business trips(in rental cars), so I couldn't care less about some out-dated in car nav. Plus, I don't need nav where I live. The roads are very systematic, all you need is an address and you can easily find your destination. If you know your way around Chi-town, do you really need nav?

I vote for the S. (I may be biased, oh and there aren't that many sports around, so it makes you a little more unique, like you said)

As a owner who had the same choice I went with the X w/Nav

As a person coming from a 450whp Sentra with suspension on rocks it's great to drive the X on the highway with those big side walled tiers lol.. And there really is no big difference in pace between the 2.\

My Vote goes to the X w/Nav

I have the X, but essentially the same mileage and same price go with the XS. Navi is over rated in my opinion. Every phone is capable and portable, so is a Garmin.

If you happen to find the seats in the X more comfortable, for you, than get it. Many people find the sport seats ok for short trips but uncomfortable after sitting in them a while.

You can easily add paddle shifters and 18" wheels to the X.
You can't easily add an Infiniti Nav package to the XS.

Also...the front tuned suspension of the XS is not the same a the sport tuned suspension of the G35/37S

What were the factory tires on the sport, the ad didn't specify what tires were on it? Being in Chicago for the winter I would need some sort of all season tire.

1) x and xS have the same suspension and brakes
2) paddle shifters, front bumper and 18" (even 20" ) rims are really easy to add to x
3) the only valuable difference is the sport seats, but you should check if they are comfortable for you
4) and with Navi you get the touch-screen and 10Gb hard drive with the CompactFlash card reader!

According to Infiniti the XS has a 'unique front suspension geometry tuning' different than the X

So let me break this down

all the responders who have an xS are telling you to get an xS - and how the Navi is overrated and you can get it from your phone yada yada

The owners with Navi are telling you to get the navi and how you can add the wheels etc later if you want.

Soooo.... Basically its up to you and what you want lol. No one will be able to make the choice for you. And yes, just for the hell of it I have Navi and Love it

I have both an xS and Nav, and I'm trying to think what I could do without. I really am in love with both packages. The Sport Package, in my opinon, just looks fantastic. I never use the paddle shifters, however I really like the look of the 18's and the front bumper. I'm hit or miss on the sport seats, I love how they hug me, but I can't get the overall comfort that I get from my friends non-sport seats.

With the amount of travel I do to random places, the Nav has been a lifesaver to me. It works well, the traffic feature has proven helpful, the HD and Compactflash are nice ways of listening to music as well. Some of the menus are slightly more upgraded than the non-nav models, and the ability to download my entire phonebook and allocate voice commands is great (not sure if the non-nav can do that)

If I had to do it again and only pick one, I would lean towards the Nav just because of the amount of travel I do, however my first mod would be the sport bumper.

I don't have the X or the XS but I feel it makes sense to tell someone with little experience with this vehicle what is and what is not easily interchangeable.
You are right in that it's his choice, but he asked for help in deciding if the sport package features are worth it.

^+1, there have been times when i had to go a different way due to traffic or road construction...the navi has really helped me out, guiding me through roads that i never would've driven on.

another option you can consider is wood in your interior. the sport package doesn't have that option, while the regular x model does...i have the wood in my sedan and its great! it all depends on what you're looking for.
