Dyno an X with VDC off on a 2wd dyno?

So I was thinking if this would work. Tried to search and I couldn't find any info on this topic.

On my 07 G35x I turn the VDC off to go play in the snow or what not and its 100% RWD.
So if I turn VDC off can I put it on a 2wd dyno and see what it puts down to the rear wheels?

If this isn't safe then I will take it up to PA to an AWD dyno but that also has me thinking. The AWD will not kick on as long as the rear tires dont loose traction right? So would this mess up the reading on the dyno since the front wheels wont be turning? Also the AWD turns off at a certain speed as well correct? So you wouldn't be able to put it in snow mode either to get an accurate reading.

I just want to get a baseline run and see what it is putting down before the engine mods begin.

im not sure how the attesa system works but i would not risk putting it on a rwd dyno unless many precautions are taken...

i suggest you just unplug the AWD control unit and it will leave the front solenoid clutch disengaged until you plug it in again

X Model is still partially fwd even though its primarily rwd, only way to fully disable the front wheels is to unplug the AWD control unit like GXXVX said. I would not try putting your car on a 2WD dyno at all man. Turning off VDC does NOT make your car 100% RWD.

Which dyno shop are you referring to when you say you'll take it up to PA?

^J&S Dyno in Verona PA...I take my WRX there. No AWD dyno in WV : (
I just put down 299whp and 275wtq with my new turbo setup.

Alright I might have to hook up a switch to disable the awd control module. But if I put it on an AWD dyno are the front wheels even going to spin since the rear wheels wont be losing traction? If so wouldn't that give a wrong reading on an AWD dyno?

I highly doubt ANY reputable dyno shop is going to let you put an AWD car on their 2WD dyno, REGARDESS of whether or not you disengaged the front wheel system or not.

I think you're over thinking this. You're not the first AWD car to be dyno'd (as you know). GO to an AWD dyno, let the dyno man do his thing, and you'll be fine.

LoL. you're thinking wrong about not losing traction, fronts not grabbing .///

Fronts always active. never 100% always spins the fronts too. Even if its 95%R 5%F. It will pull u off the dyno lol.
I know my first gen, Has 10amp fuse that I can pull by my left foot, When you pull it and Roll. AWD senses no power going to the front and AWD gets disabled... but even in that case, they still wouldnt dyno you on RWD cause, before it senses off, Shaft still spins them...

On 2nd gens. there is no fuse... pulling your ABS fuse might do the trick tho...

My opinion. Get on AWD dyno, dont take any chances with getting ripped off the dyno head on into w.e. is infront of it.

Performance motorsports in NY has awd mustang dyno and theyre UPREV lisenced to tune the VQmotors. Thats where I get on the dyno.
