It seems as if 6mt's are getting an improved 3-5mpg over automatics. I drive somewhat aggressive about 30% of the time and still able to manage 22.1mpg/400 miles to the tank after owning the car almost 4 1/2 years. I usually shift around 2500 RPM's, rarely over 3000. Seems most of the posters here with auto's are only getting 17-18 mpg.

I have been seeing the best MPG I can get this week. Seeing I have 2 speed traps and a State HWY patrol post on my 30 mile journey to work... 2 days 120ish miles and I am at 24.7 average speed is 47.8. Mostly highway and I haven't passed a car yet.

Normally I am between 19 and 22 mpg with fairly spirited driving. I did just switch to Mobile 1 synth and got brand new tires last week(cooper cs4). I also replaced my air filters and haven't used the AC(50 degrees F outside).

Ha try about 330 for me all city driving. it shows about 17.4 - 18 MPG

I have document tests here after long trips of my hwy mpg driving between 65-70 MPH with cruise control abd max was 28.7 I think, it never got higher. Even manual calculation yielded same results +/- .2 Onboard computer is pretty accurate.

i think its how u drive matters. im doing about 19mpg on pure city driving.
and each tank would give me around 340miles or range.(showed by trip computer, in fact im doing a little bit more than that)
guess i will get around 400 miles of range if i do 50 city 50 highway

My trip is always off. I can show 24.7 or 19 MPG and it still shows 390 miles.

I not sure I understand this comment

A distance of 390 miles is quite possibly within range for both the 19mpg as well as the 24.7mpg. It just depends how much fuel was left in your tank when you filled up. Granted, the 19mpg instance must have meant you were basically on fumes. The cars do hold a tad more than 20 gallons. The extra volume being thermal expansion area for the gas. Now, if you said you went something like 420 miles at 19mpg, then I'd say something's outta wack.

At each fill-up, I reset both the trip mile counter as well as the average mpg readout on the trip computer display. I have found them to be SO accurate that with a glance at my average mpg and simple bit of math in my head, I can predict to within a few tenths of a gallon how much gas I have left in my tank, and hence when the pump will click off when I'm refueling. I'm constantly amazed at how accurate the thing it is. I can recall reading somewhere that it is because the software literally counts the fuel injector pulses and extrapolates the exact volume of gasoline from that data.

I am talking a full tank at those two MPGs(19/ 24.7). I religiously fill my tank at a little under 1/4, and I always reset both trips after fill ups and pretty much drive the same exact routes/ miles every day through the week.

See, (if I'm understanding you correctly) that's just not the way to determine accuracy. If you want to verify it, you simply HAVE to divide actual miles driven by actual gallons used. Period. Working off of your estimation of the gauge level is inherently fraught with inaccuracy. I'd believe my trip computer ten fold more than I would my gas gauge.
