new brakes, now a horrible squeal
new brakes, now a horrible squeal
Just installed new pads and rotors on my 07 sport. EBC red stuff pads all around and Centric power slot rotors up front, and regular non slotted out back. now under braking especially at low speeds ive got an awful squeal. it gets quieter as the brakes warm up but is still very noticeable. Ive heard that the EBC pads having the break in compound on them, and being that they are a ceramic pad require up to 500 miles to bed in before brake noise goes away.
Has anyone experienced something similar to this? im really worried im going to have to trash the setup and start over.

EBC states "Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 1000 miles and drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their disc (brake rotor). This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking."
My guess is, bed it properly and/or give it some time.
p.s. Do a thermal cycle on the new rotors before you do the actual bed-in process.

elaborate on thermal cycle? my plan has just been to drive around normally for the first 100 miles or so without any hard stops, i figure that will allow them to heat up and cool enough. then the next 100 or so miles be a bit harder, then after 300 miles do a couple of the "bed in " procedures. im really hoping it works.
