New 08 G35 owner...need help!
First, let me start by saying this forum is awesome. I've gained some valuable knowledge by reading some of the threads. I am new to the forum so I apologize in advance if this topic has been talked about in the past.
I purchased my 08 G35 with 20k miles and the price tag couldn't be beat. The only problem is that on my wish list was the iPod functionality. My G35 is not equipped with the premium package. I called the dealership and they stated that it would be extremely expensive to add the iPod integration to my G35. I did some research and found a site where the parts would cost me $160. This doesn't sound expensive to me. My problem is that I really don't know much about ripping out car stereos and installing this piece.
Any ideas on where I can go for some help? Do you think I should talk to my dealer again and have them provide a little more help, rather then saying it will be very expensive?
Thanks

They do have the RCA component inputs and I can play my iPod via aux. However, I chant my iPod information to show on my in-dash screen and I also want to be able to control my music with the buttons in my G35 rather than my iPod.
Thanks for the welcome. Glad to be here. The G35 is an awesome ride!

Only the Premium package had Ipod integration and you are correct it would be expensive for the dealership to install. There are other cost effective ways. Do some searching on "ipod integration," there are a few options for installing something. I agree, having an aux cord haning out of the center console seems so cheesy.

I have the base model 2008 G35 and I use the cord to attach to my iphone 4. Once attached, I turn my iphone to the ipod and hit disc and I can search through the display. You can search by artist, playlist, song, ect. Once the song is playing, it shows all the usual information that your ipod displays.

I use the rca audio ones that comes to an aux for my iPhone and I like this better. I have an 07 so there is no iPod internagtion I like this set up better because I can turn up my music in iTunes and get the max audio level. Also I had the video cable as well with this one I should add the iTunes set up for the audio level won't have any effect

sounds like the best option. It's probably needed to plug into the back of the HU. However I searched around, and I couldn't find a thread of anything adding the ipod cable that didn't have the premium package.

I just purchased a 2005 Coupe and when I got it home, found that the CD player/changer will not function at all, which is a major downer. From what I've researched, with Bose systems, it's a very common problem. My quesiton is this... Has anyone tried hooking up an auxiliary jack to the Bose system via the CD input? If so, what did it entail? I'm not special on the FM transmitters as you don't get true sound. I really don't want to yank the system out and send it out to get fixed which will cost $300 plus shipping when I can simply use my mp3 player for way cheaper
