Remote Start

I've been looking on here but haven't found much information on a remote start system. Does anyone have one installed or know if its possible? I've seen some that also has an app for the iphone which makes it possible to start/unlock/lock your car from anywhere in the US as long as your phone has service. Thanks for any help in advance.

Anybody done it on a manual?

Had it on my Maxima......there was a pin on the ECU that would prevent it from starting while in gear.

Not to steal a thread, but is it possible to do a remote start w/o adding a new keyfob?

Maybe you can program a new Keyfob and take out the panic putton for your start

I have the Viper one installed on my car. It's a nice touch for the winter since the heated seats will come one if the switch is left on. I asked at the install place if it is possible to do it without the extra(viper) remote and they said it isnt possible because I got the one with the alarm and pager. I think I prefer it this way though. If the alarm sounds the remote also has a mini alarm that sounds even up to a mile away. It has a display that shows if it's armed, locked, or unlocked. Was a bit pricey because of the extra module needed for push button vehicles. When you get in the car and the brake is pressed it shuts off. If the key is inside, just press the push button on the car twice (to on position) and then you can drive away :-)

I have heard of remote start only being done with just the Infiniti keyfob. Where you trigger it with multiple presses on lock or unlock.

i've looked up a couple viper systems and to be able to have an app to use with my phone i'll also need smart start and a yearly subscription. They are a bit pricy though. Did you get it at bestbuy and install?

It was at a local alarm/audio shop in Houston. They've done several installs for me and I like their work. The GPS module was an extra $250. They said it was an option that could be installed later. He also said you could talk Viper into a $99/year deal. One of the guys who works there said he got that deal just by calling in.
