I plan on doing this this weekend. If anyone could give a step by step DIY guide, or just tips, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's my BlueBat GTRs, if you try these be sure to watch some install videos as they can be a bit tricky.

dude im loving the 180 custom look its a perfect tint not too dark and u left the middle part nicee!! i wanted to do something similar to that but was wondering when you apply the tint with a heat gun is there a possibility of it cracking later due to cold weather temp up here?? did you remove the entire tail light to do this?? and has anyone ever done the spray tint i saw it the other day at a local shop im guessing that one probably looks like crap though when applied.

Haha never do it? Are you referring to overlays in general?

I was also wondering if it is possible to spray the GTR tail light look, instead of using an overlay? Anyone ever try this?

I think it would look great since you could pretty much make the black areas completely black, since no light has to pass through those areas.

If i'm not mistaken, that shot from 180 is with the tails tinted from inside.

They may not be what you like, but just because they're not your cup of tea doesn't mean someone else shouldn't give it a try. Lots of people don't like spoilers, slammed suspensions,
and other various mods but everyone's got their own likes/dislikes.
I like the GTRs on my black G, not sure if I'd feel the same way w/ a different paint color though. What I like about the overlays is you can always change it up if you want a different look later on, and it also doesn't affect the light output. I may paint the insides black down the road if the vinyl starts fading but the black on black looks good IMO.

Do you guys think that it would be a good idea to cover the circular parts and paint the other parts black as shown??

Those look great. Would it make it any harder if I wanted to paint them with a GTR design?

its a hard process. its not a tint, they actually take apart the headlight and paint inside with some chrome and black and put it back together. but its def perfect. looks tinted but perfectly legal

No because you would clear the whole thing anyway making it a smooth surface on the whole lens

you apply the VHT then demask then clear
