My girlfriend and I had the YK520s on an Atlima SE-R and Acura TSX. They lasted really well. Never seemed to lose traction in spite of the tread. Virginia has been hit with all kinds of weather. Based on that, I would seriously consider the YK580s for my G35X.

How are the yokos cheap? I dont want a high performance summer tire. I need an all-season tire for DD use

Sorry, I didn't know you are looking for all seasons. I'd highly recommend toyo proxes 4. Great all around tire and not expensive

more USEFUL posts please!
I have test driven the General G-MAX AS-03 on the big track at Infineon Raceway on 3 different cars: Audi S5, Evo MR and Camaro SS. Also tested other tire brands on the same vehicles to compare with the Generals. At the end of the tests, I came out a General Tire fan. Grippy, predictable and very consistent tires.

I would recommend these tires any day.

thanks, that throws a wrench my way. My only concern is that the test seems to only prove that the tires are good on tracks in dry condition with sport tuned cars/suspensions. I need to make sure they handle the rain, snow, daily driving, potholes, etc. a lot of people hate on General because they do not know the brand. they are a line of Continental. ive been hearing a lot of good things about these tires though but most of the reviews I have been reading seem to be on more sportier cars/coupes and in only dry and rain. how was the noise level on the Generals?

Go with the YOKOS....have had several sets on G's and Max's.
Currently have DWS on my coupe and regret them! Sidewalls not stiff enough...had S-Drives which were great.
Looking at either the YK580's or ENVigors for my G35X.
Daughter has ENVigors on her 00 Max and they have done great in the snowy NC mountains where she goes to school. She had AVIDS before that and they were great too.

We did a wet course test and it would say that it was a bit more predictable than 3 of the 4 tires being tested. It was the Good Year (it may have been the F1) that faired a little better in my opinion over the General, Kumho, Michelin and Toyo that we tested.

I wasn't paying too much attention to dB levels during the test but I do have Continental ExtremeContact DWS all-season tires on my 2008 G35 sedan and they are really quiet. I don't have any concrete evidence to support that the Generals would be quiet too but I would trust that Continental/General knows what they are doing when it comes to designing tires.

BTW, Generals have a 45-day money back guarantee trial. Throw them back to the store if you hate them. hahaha.

Ultimately, you should get the type of tires that matches your driving style, type of roads that you take to work, and if you take the car to the track on weekends. If all that matters to you are comfort, safety, consistency and predictability then go with the Generals. If you're an aggressive driver and take your car on the racetrack or on curvy mountain roads on weekends, then you would have too look somewhere else and don't get the Generals.
