I got in my car the other day and the doors would not lock from the inside. They locked from the inside with the key fob, but not from the door lock switch. When i turned the car off and bac on, all was good.

Maybe your connection is loose. idk but it would be a good place to start.

 

Has it ever done it before or since that time? Maybe it was just a glitch. It isn't supposed to allow the doors to be locked without the engine running when the key is inside, so maybe for some reason it "thought" the car wasn't running.

 

Sort of related to your question. My other cars automatically lock when I put them in drive. My 07 G35x (40k miles) does not do this. Is there a setting somewhere I can change to make this happen?

Not for the 07 G35 sedans. I'm pretty sure the feature was introduced to the G37 sedan.
My 2007X didn't have the door autolock in motion option but my 2011S does.
You can purchase an Auto lock-unlock module from kptechnologies for $50. They have a few other goodies you might like.

 

Sometimes the smart key gets a bit quirky

 

This is just an observation on the auto door locks thing. I have a 98 Benz and a 99 Chevy. They have auto door locks which is maybe why I noticed the difference. I would have thought Infiniti would have figured out how to do it before 2009. Oh well, apparently kptechnolgies did.
