Anyone have issues with Stillen Gen3 Intake?

my question is have there been any members who have had issues with this intake? since the cones are right in front of the grill.

with me being the first member on here to blow a hr motor, i definitly want to check out what others have to say about this.

i currently have the stillen gen 2 intake. and thinking of changing it to the gen 3. since it has been out for a long time now there has to have been time for some mishaps if any.

thanks.

No problems here. Love it! The only problems I have heard is with fitment. Make sure the pipes are not rubbing against metal. Areas where it is close, put some rubber hose or other buffer material.

I have the 3 and I don't have any issues. I've never heard of any issues of that sort.

Probably the best intake for our cars but it does have some minor flaws:

Fitment/Install :

Probably the worst of the install is aligning everything. (I've spent hours on aligning the pipes but I'm still getting minor rattles here and there. I'm going to put some more heat wrap on the part where they rub.)

Make sure you wrap the A/C Lines or else you'll burn through them.

I'm sure you already know you have to enlarge the intake core supports which is a little pita.

Sorry, nothing to offer in answer to your question, but I would be very curious to learn more about the circumstances surrounding your experience with blowing up an HR. Have you possibly posted in a thread somewhere else where it's available for me to read? IF not, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who'd be interested. If you could share more info, it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: NM suby, I looked back in your old history ('twas before my time here). SO sorry you went through that man!

I don't have the Gen3 but it seems like it should be hard to hydrolock with the filters being so high up. Maybe if you were speeding in heavy rain.... or had a truck blast you with puddle water??

....or if you just drive your ish into a pool which means you probably got exactly what you had coming to you
