The "Premium Maintenance Schedule" which IS NOT REQUIRED, calls for every 30K, if you look at schedule 1 and 2, they do not. Regardless, I did do it at 30K and was glad I did. When my 5 - 6 synchro went out at 45K, the very first thing they asked me about it, was did I do the 30K service, and if so, what lube did I use. I was glad to be able to say yes, and I had used GL-4 rated lube, and had receipts to back it up if they wanted to check (they didn't).

You should be just fine waiting until 30K. It's not like it's lubricating the inside of a combustion engine with huge variations in heat, humidity, combustion residue, acids, etc. The tranny and diff are both sealed cases with heavy oil in them. Relatively speaking, it's a pretty easy life for them; 30k is nothing.

Yep +1 on the 30K but a little over won't kill your car unless you are racing it.

I've seen the tranny DIY, but not the diff. Is there one for the diff?
