Have yall tried not using the auto shutoff stopper, and just put the nozzle in partially and manually pump the gas, as if you were topping off?

 

Yes, it stops anyway even manually fill it up, it stops not even close to full

 

This happened to me today right before I went on a mini road trip, Smh. Any news?

Edit: I filled up a couple hours later with no problems. Do you think I should take it in?

 

Only happens for two reasons, fuel fill valve cover or evaporator issues, which may or may not trigger a CEL.

 

just happened to me a week ago and i could only get 3/4 of a full tank.

 

Dealership stated that the baffle appeared to be loose or coming loose (which one is it, they couldn't tell me) and after inspecting it they where able to fix the problem. At least it hasn't happened to me in the last few days.

 

It seemed likely that would be the cause. So, did they charge you to "fix" their fix?

Been really busy at work, that explains the late reply. Actually no, Orlando Infiniti worked with me and I was able to have it covered.

 

Every Infiniti I've owned has had this issue. We've owned G35 coupes and sedans, and the worst offender of all was my 06 M35. My recent 2nd Gen G is starting to do it almost as often as the M. I've brought in some of our cars to the dealership for the TSB's, but after a few months the problem always returned. It sucked having to squeeze the nozzle lever barely before the pump would shut off, then retry a hundred times until fuel would flow into these tanks. If we squeezed the lever anywhere past halfway, the pump would be more likely to shutoff. I hate the looks I get from other drivers nearby thinking I'm simply trying to repeatedly top off my tank. The one G35 we had which had this problem least frequently was our oldest - an 03 sedan. I really wish the manufacturer would address these fill-up issues and make them "stick".

 

I've had this problem for years now... In the beginning I was only able to pump to about 4/5 tank almost every time. Ever since my local gas station introduced new gas pumps I've been having this issue almost every time at much severe capacity. Half the time I am able to hit 4/5 but the other half I can't get over half tank or at times even worse 5 to 10 seconds of pump time... I absolutely dread going to the gas station having the fear of the gas pump stopping as soon as I start pumping. I know all about the angles of the nozzle as over the years I've tried many different combination.

I guess I will need to bring my car into the dealership to get it looked after. I read over the details within the TSB ITB08-041a service bulletin and it looks like it can be a tough job as there's no actual way to view the inside of the tank other than by feeling it out with your hand. I can see this becoming a repeat problem if not done with care and thoroughness. If the FLV is not mounted properly with the shield this is 100% reoccurring issue. The dealership mechs are the laziest people when it comes to these kinds things and I question the ability of my local dealerships (all 5 of them) to have this issue looked after with the attention that it needs.... :S am I too harsh?

I just really want this problem to go away once and for all... but I don't want the dealership to mess around with my car... How are your experiences with this particular TSB at your local dealerships? What do they need to take apart to get to the FLV?
