Plasti dipping all chrome...not the usual black

Hi guys,
First post here but been reading threads extensively for the past 3 months. Have my 08 G35 Sedan blue slate for about 2 months and have the mod bug from seeing all the nice rides here!

I would post a pic of my G but its pretty much stock except for 30% tint all-around. Gordee's grounding kit is on the way and sway bars soon to be purchased. Coilovers and Rims next.

I'm planning on plasti dipping my grill, window trim, emblems, and rear spoiler. I've seen a lot of people do this but I'm going to try out a silver metalizer over the black plastidip. I'm looking for a gunmetal look as I haven't seen anyone do this to all of the chrome. Hoping it will turn out well. This is also because I'm planning on getting gunmetal rims to match...or painting them too.

I'll post pics once its done next week and see how you guys like/dislike it. At least if it looks bad, I can just peel it off.

Good luck, haven't heard too many good results from painting over plasti-dip but some have done it successfully. looking forward to the pics. Oh, and welcome to the site, sounds like you've got some nice mods on the way

Cool, look forward to seeing how it works out, and like you said, it's simple to remove if it's not the look you were after.

Got it from dipyourcar.com.

As Kool_yaar mentioned, there's some youtube videos on the site that shows the procedure. Although I don't think I've seen anyone do it for all their trim on a G though.

Kool_yaar- would you happen to link any pics of any G's that have done this? Was hoping I would be the first. =)

Update: Plasti dip is on its way. Thought it would arrive this week but looks like early next week. So probably next weekend I'll have pics. Excited!

People really recommend this stuff?
I was thinking about it for my wheels, but the name kinda made me go " ehh, reminds me of slap-chop".

I've read numerous reviews from across different car forums. All have been pretty positive.

Its really up to your preference. I was deciding between painting, vinyl (gunmetal or 3M dinoc carbon fiber), and plasti dip. Of these options, the plasti dip is the easiest to prep/install, the cheapest, and I can remove it if I didn't like it. If its not very durable, I can either retouch it, or go a different route with paint or vinyl.

This is basically an experiment to see how well it works and if I can get the right color I'm looking for.
