G35x '07 -> G37x '09?

Going to change my G35x '07 (70000 miles) to G37x '09 (28000 miles) sedan. Please post your impressions - what are the changes in ride comfort, steering, power, etc.?

Had another ride on this stock G37x yesterday and I can say my suspension feels better, as I have rear sway, front strut bar and very light 18" rims, though struts/springs combo seems to be a little bit stiffer on G37x which i like (I don't plan to change them, as I need stock clearance). Am I right about the struts or they feel the same as '07-'08?

Acceleration feels stronger on my G35x but I have rather loud exhaust and this can be only the sound of it... I plan to drag race with this G37x to see the truth Anyway G37x should be faster with the the same power mods, shouldn't it?

I had an opportunity to drive the 09 G37x loaner for a week while my 35 was at the dealership, an my honest opinion would be that 37s got waaaaaaaaaay better from 2010s. The transmission is a bit "skippy" in the 09s and the acceleration also isn't impressive. I drove a different G37 (not a x) last wk when I brought my car in for maintenance for the day, and the same story here.

The only time I felt like purchasing a 37 over my 35 was when I drove the newest 2012 G37. Transmission and acceleration, much improvement seen here.

^ wont be surprised considering 09 was teh 1st year they brought out the 7spd and ppl complained in and out on the tranny's gear hunting and infiniti was always coming out with updates and such to try and fix it, so 2012 should logically be better with all/most of the bugs cured but cant say for sure since i have not driven the 2012 myself

How about you go 2010+ at least!?! I mean 09 is exactly the same car body!! At least 2010 you will gain better looking fascia!

doesn't VVEL give you 30 extra ponies? It should be quicker on the 09+

^^ yeah, hp went up by 22, but the torque only went up by ONE ft.lb.

However, the weight also went up by 87 lbs at the same time, so basically, you got the same torque, but it breathes a little better up top to make up for the extra 87 lbs. it gotta carry now.

My guess is, in the drags, it would be a driver's race.

anyway I drag-raced that '09 G37x several times (DS, VDC OFF, from the stand still) and that's what I found:

- my car is faster by half of a body length from the stand still
- he reaches me at 60mph
- his car starts to be faster after 70mph and at 110-120mph he is one body length ahead

as I said his car is full stock (17" stock 225/55/17 winter tires), mine has full cat-back Borla H-pipe true dual + ART test pipes and 18" light rims (with the winter tires 225/50/18). my car is also about 90lbs heavier than stock G35x, as I have rather heavy custom subwoofer and a lot of sound deadening materials, so there's almost no weight differences!

I decided not to buy his car, but now I wonder, how would I make my car as fast as G37x after 70mph? It seems like I have more torque (that's why I "jump" from the stand still, though it can be lighter rims), but less hp. Maybe Uprev tune can cure that (I believe I have crappy AFR)?

You have mods, your friend doesn't, even though I doubt those exhaust mods make much difference.
What do you weigh...what does your friend weigh?
Stock 07X = 3704lbs
Stock 09X = 3791lbs

What is the rotational mass of your lighter wheels and the rotational mass of a stock G37 wheel? Rotational mass if far more detrimental to HP than static weight (i.e. a 90lb speaker)

i knew that g37x is by 90lbs heavier than mine g35x, but as I said my music weight is exactly 90lbs, so now my car weight = stock g37x weight

and my 18" rims (OZ Ultraleggeras) are about 6lbs lighter each than stock 17". Though I have full Akebono BBK that is rather heavy (even with my 2-piece front rotor).

my guess is that I need uprev tune because of my exhaust mods. and I use 93 gas, so I need to adjust the ignition. hope, I would be faster than g37x finally (anyway even now I'm faster to 60mph )

You never replied how heavy the two drivers are lol. Maybe both weigh the same.
There's just 22bhp difference (maybe about 15whp) in the two vehicles (stock).
Stock 07 vs stock 09 is still a drivers race and half a car is nothing at 60 mph. I suspect that's why most drag races are 1/4mile. At a 1/4 mile these cars are doing more than 100mph and as you said, you are behind your friend at that point.
I'm just repeating others...I'm bored.

Next race, you should drive his car and he should drive yours. Maybe you are simply a better driver than your friend

we both just pressed the gas pedal all the way (no manual shifting)

and did that about 6-7 times (and all these times I won half of a body length until the 60-70mph)

Borla exhaust + test pipes should be a noticeable bump in power. I would agree you need a tune to get the most out of your car.

The Uprev guys strongly recommend a oil cooler if you are going to track a VVEL/VHR motor. A guy there I know won't even take his 370 to track days until he does. Something to think about if you upgrade
