Key fob

Im not sure what everyone thinks ( I did search) but I think our key fobs are way to powerful. There's no reason we need to open our doors so far away from the car. I say this because I have on several occasions come out to an open trunk when I sat with my keys in my pocket. Twice this week for the first time in three years, I came outside to find all 4 windows down!
Very frustrating.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Yep, you've got to watch what you keep in your pockets that might press buttons. When I work in the yard, I'm constantly setting the alarm off, popping the trunk, rolling down windows, etc.

That being said, I do like the ability to make sure I locked the car (by re-locking it) when I get half way across the parking lot and forget whether I did or not.

Agreed....Last night, though, my car did something for the first time...at least the first time I've noticed it. I pulled into the garage, shut it off, got out (all with the key fob/key in my pocket), and the car started the infamous "rapid beep" to indicate the key is still in the car or something?? Anyways, to the problem, I got out, was going to walk into the house, and then noticed that on my dash, the indicator light for "no key" was lit and my nav/radio display screen had my radio information on it!! ???????? I waited for a minute or so and both the above mentioned did not go away, so I had to get back in the car, start it, shut if off immediately, and then everything was normal.

Any light shed on this topic?? Is it something to do with the key fob OR is it the car itself? I just replaced the battery in the fob about a month ago. Oh, yeah, and there is no key/key fob stuck inside the interior anywhere as without my fob in my pocket, the car will not start (tried that test awhile ago).

Thanks..

My guess is that you may have inadvertently double pressed the start button when you intended to just shut it off.

That's very possible I guess, although weird that I would have double tapped it to shut if off. But again, very possible. We'll see if it happens again...Thanks.

I think its handy, but i do find myself pocket operating my key fob.

Right before I seen this thread, my roommate just came in to yell at me to "stop honking the damn horn on my car." Fob is in my pocket and I had my leg my leg up against the arm rest of my computer chair. Said I honked it 20+ times before he came in. LOL, who knew.
