Engine oil

Hi to all..
I m new on this website

Thing is that I had just done(20days) before service of my Infiniti g35 from Infiniti service center. There is couple of issue in my car I had paid 521$.That includes oil filter synthetic oil($80 and upto 7000 mile).battery connector change, air filter, Dasboard airfilter, Coolant etc......when I came back at home I seen the issue that is in car they are still same ..I drive back my car to same infinite service center.they apologize and solve the issue.
now yesterday after 20 days of my service(700mile) my car is showing sign for change oil and oil filter.I don't know what to do I think they didn't change anything in my car .....I need ur help what I have to do regarding this.Or there is any way to test my engine oil which one they had put in my car I had paid for synthetic oil($80 and upto 7000 mile).and now it is giving me sign for oil and change oil filter

Thank you

Could be they didnt reset your Oil light. I wouldnt use the 7000 mile oil. Stick with just a full synthetic and change every 3-3500 miles. U can check your oil from the dipstick and see if its a light brown and not black. Be sure to let the motor sit turned off for about 5 minutes before checking oil. I would probaly call and go off on the dealership for not doing there job not once but twice. I had numerous problems and was lied to numerous times when getting my car serviced at Infiniti. It came to the point to where I wouldnt take it there UNLESS it was a warranty issue. If u cant do the basic services yourself then I would find a local shop (Firestone, Goodyear, Jiffy Lube, Valvoline etc.) that you can trust and have a good reputation. It will also save you alot of money in the long run. Hope I helped.

^ follow what he said to check if the oil change was done or not cause its very possible that they forgot to reset the maintaince meter.

Also if you are using high quality full synthetic then i recommend 5k change interval as 3-3.5k is an overkill with full syn imo even the manual suggests 3750 on reg oil, of course everyone will have their own opinion ranging between 3.5-7.5k but 5k is a great safe interval with syn as long as you keep checking the level every so often

Did you change your settings? That would be the best thing to do. Nothing to worry about.

I bet you a dollar an oil analysis would show your synthetic oil to be just fine for at least 7-8K miles, and that's probably still too conservative. If you're driving highway miles, the factory is fine with even dino oil at 7500 change intervals.

I do 7500 mile changes with M1, with perfectly fine blackstone results. I also fall under the severe driving conditions category.

yeah why did you use 40? the manufacturer calls for 5w30. 40 is thicker, that would explain lower mileage. Maybe stick with 30 next time.

^ uh yea 0W40 is just fine for the VQ. And Thicker weights will lower mpg

Straight from the manual(Section 9)
SAE 5W-30 viscosity oil is preferred for all
ambient temperatures. SAE 10W-30,
10W-40 viscosity oil may be used if the ambient
temperature is above 0°F (−18°C).

Mobil 1 0w-40 is a very good synthetic which has been used successfully in our engines. You should check out the UOAs here or on BITOG.
