woke up to this...fml.

Side swiped by some douchebag who hit my parked baby.... no note or anything. God I hate NY.

3 shops said 1200 bucks to sand, fix fender, and spray and paint... one said 850 if only partially blending the affected side and fixing the fender.

Question is, are the sanding and respraying costs normally this high????? Is it because the fender is dented too? Wtf. The shops were saying I may need realignment... does it look that bad?

Call it curiousity... would buying a new oem bumper and having it painted be cheaper than sanding and repainting?

You're getting raped if you pay 1200 to fix that.

I wouldn't pay no more than:
200 to spray bumper
200 to spray fender
300 tops to repair bumper and fender

they are quoting you insurance rates

How exactly do they match colors anyways ? Does anyone know? Is it done while the sanded and primed bumper is already on the car, or when the bumper is off of the car???? If its done after the bumper is taken off, I don't get how they compare to see if the color matches without having it next to the rest of the front.....

If you are referring to blending, they paint the bumper first then put it on and blend the paint into the adjacent panel(s). I have seen them leave the mounting points loose so paint doesn't build up in the crack between the bumper and fender.

If they're good and take their time, they should be able to match the paint and not have to blend at all. When I had my inven bumper painted, they matched it pretty good and didn't do any blending.

1200-1500 to repair and paint a fender alone is average, it's a lot of work and paint. In order to do the repair properly, they have to knock out the dents, bondo and sand, and then paint the entire side.

I beg to differ. I paid 1200 for paint and labor (excluding parts) to fix this car. They had to cut off that quarter then cut off a good quarter from my parts car then weld it on. Not to mention removing the quarter and back glass then reinstalling it and also fixing the door. A lot more work than a simple bumper and fender fix. And a lot more paint as well.

Your getting rapped on that. I only paid $400 to get my bumper fixed w/ some heavy damage.
