Bluetooth Problem

I have an unusual problem with the Bluetooth setup in my car. Most of the time it works fine but on occasion, it gets goofy on me. When I attempt to make a call using any of the options (phone book, recent calls, etc) , the screen immediately goes back to the status screen and the music is muted but the call never goes through. The phone that I am calling, however, will ring and if it's answered, there is noone there. The music box never comes back on and even shutting the radio off and on will not return it to normal. The same thing happens if I try to make the call directly from the phone itself.

Now, this can happen 20 times in a row, one right after the other and then the 21s call will go through normally. This can be quite annoying to the person that I'm calling because I getting 20 duds and they're receiving 20 rings.

Any ideas, guys?

I have an old LG flipphone. It doesn't appear that new or old matters. I tried unpairing and repairing my phone today and see if that matters.

I did uninstall and reinstall my phone and the problem is still there. While the phone does not connect, the audio still mutes like it *thinks* the phone is working. If I turn the radio off, it stays muted. If I turn the car off, it stays muted, however if I turn the phone off, I can now make a call like nothing happened. ???????
