^not a problem, shadowing occurs due to the area under the emblem not having been exposed to the outdoor elements like the rest of the paint which leaves behind a 'shadow' where the old emblem was, so u would technically still be able to see an outline of the S until u spend a good bit of time cleaning and a bit of polish at times to blend in the difference in paint.

^^ don't forget the limited slip diff
When I got my car, I couldn't wait to take that S off of it. To me, it just seemed a sure fire way to advertise to LEO's that you chose the hot-shot car, thereby biasing their regard of you when deciding to ticket you or not. I know she a Sport, I don't have to advertise it.

Here is the image of the S. It's really not that bad - but since it's new to me I just would like it looking good.

Same problem.
I also had a red peeling S. What I ended up doing is blacking out all my rear emblems with plastidip (removable rubber spray-$6 and 30 mins of work).
Looks pretty good, better than a flaky red S. I also didn't like how the S stuck out so much, but now it's there and doesn't scream at everyone. Best part is... Comes off really easily but somehow sticks on. I've washed my car several times and no problem.
I had a metal badge from the dealer on my car when I first got it. I sprayed bug and tar remover and it came off no problem. Just make sure to clean up.
