Clutch options

FML

Slave cylinder finally went out to the point where the dealer can replace it under warranty.

Tranny is out, and the clutch is pretty damn worn. No labor cost to replace it since the tranny is already out, but the clutch is $725. I've got access to some wholesale accounts, but can't find an aftermarket clutch anywhere. Not looking for a performance clutch as this thing is a daily driver for work and sees 5K a month.

Any OEM style aftermarket options out there?

im pretty sure that Exedy makes OEM clutches for our car, i think their OE stage 1 is oem style not performance so should be the same exact feel and are quite cheap compared to others, google that or im sure someone who has done this swap will chime in, most probably someone with 1st gen G

also are u looking to change out the flywheel too? im guessing not cause that will put you in the $1000+ range easy while just cltuch with pressure plate would be around 5-600 i think... i would suggest to get the entire kit since you are not being charged labor it will help you save in the long run...

Here are some clutch discs with pressure plate stage 1s from ebay:

Competiton Stage 1 clutch(OEM feel)

Clutch masters stage 1(OEM feel)

and of course you can also get the JWT one

Disclaimer: i have no experience with any of the above mentioned clutches, please do your research before buying.

+1 on doing the research, especially if you do intend to go with a non dual-mass flywheel.

Well looks like Exedy has one via World Pac even though it doesn't show it on their website. Dealer is $725 and the shop I consult for can get a discount through their local account. The dealer took care of me on price so I'm sticking with OEM.

Still sucks to replace a clutch at 55K - only had one clutch fail in my entire life and it was way past 55K. Hell the rubber clutch in my 944 had 55K and 25 years on it.

I passed on the flywheel as it didn't appear to be worn enough to justify the price.
