At what milage do you have to clean the throttle body?
Unless your idle is rough or something else is wrong, I wouldn't bother cleaning it. You could do more harm than good. But there is a DIY in the forums on how to do a proper cleaning and if followed correctly, could end up with a shiny TB and some smoother driving.
they get dirty pretty quickly, i suggest every 30k. my local dealership recommends 15k which is a bit of an over kill imo. 80% of the time expect to get high idle after performing the TB cleaning as per the DIY, the key is to perform the reset properly with correct timing as you will see in the LONG TB CLeaning DIY thread
<sheepish grin> I haven't cleaned mine in over 80k, throttle still seems to be pretty responsive.
I'm itching to clean it though because the grass is always greener and i'm a man who tries to fix things when they're not broken.
No sarcasm meant, just light humor.

Think of it like cleaning your bathroom... you hate to do it right?
Well if you clean your bathroom once a week then it's not that bad, only takes a couple minutes. Now, dont clean your bathroom for a year and see how miserable it is to clean.
Same thing with your TB. If you keep it clean with regular maintenance, you'll never give it a chance to give you a rough idle.
I'd rather prevent something from happening by spending 15 mins to take the TB off and clean it every 30k before it costs me $5-600...

it's really not that bad.. it doesn't get that dirty easily.. i had an 06 lexus is 250 and cleaned it after 100k miles.. there wasn't much dirt.. just make sure you get the throttle body cleaner.. carbon or dirt comes right off after you spray and leave it on for 2 mins.
Maybe the lexus doesn't get dirty. Today I paid some mega bucks to clean throttle body on a 07 Grand caravan with 56K. Symtoms? Gas pedal sticks sometimes when attempting to accelerate. As i saw for myself today, GUNK around the flap/fly gate (or whatever you call it) prevented it from opening and closing as freely as it should. Paid $130 for that sheit. If I had know that was the cause for the sticky accelerator pedal i would have done it myself, either way they were going to charge me $60 for the diagnosis so I said eff it, clean the damn thing

Every car is going to be different and a big factor is your location and type of driving. Some places are dustier than others and driving conditions vary.
^ whs, the vq35hr at least has enough oil vapor and stuff blowing into the TB to make em dirty pretty quickly if driven spirited at times, and with the electronic throttle they do tend to act up a bit at idle when dirty
