07 - 08 G35 Sport Sedan BBK Upgrade
I have a 07 G35S with 75,000 Miles.
In '07 I had the car on the track with a BMW club. The G rocked but I had two heat related issues brakes and clutch. After the track day I had no paint on the original calipers.
This past weekend I installed the Akebono / Infiniti Big Brake Kit and thought I would share some info.
I opted to stay all OEM (Rotors/PADs/etc.) except for braided lines. I bought the kit from Scottsdale Infiniti, there was a little wait but eventually they shipped everything. Scottsdale's site does not state that the 07 and 08 will require wheel spacers.
I have the standard wheels from the 07 and 08 Sport. As you may have read the front calipers will not fit with the Akebonos. I had read one guy used 15mm spacers but it was a tight fit. I used the 17mm Ichiba Type 1 spacers I highly recommend this size for the front and will provide pictures at a later date. I knew with such large spacers on the front I would want to bring the rear tires out a bit too. Here I used the Type I 5mm. I would actually suggest going with the 10 mm or possibly 12 mm size.
The guys I did the install with have just about every tool known to man so all went well. The most time was spent on the first wheel. Getting familiar with Nissan's set-up. Everything went quick from there.
Also as you might have read all four dust shields need to be cut or removed. We had awesome tools for this (hydraulic cutters, grinders). If I had to do this again, I would have priced the G37's dust shields because the existing dust shield once cut are only the size of the rotor or smaller. I am not sure how well they will work.
One more area of concern, if you use type one spacers, which I recommend you will need to be able to get the existing lugs out of the hub. We used a hydraulic press. This worked well but getting the new lugs in is a pain because of the shape of the hub. We found that tightening them with a socket in place of the wheel while they were off the car seated them best.
I'll try to get some pictures up this week.

I reaaaalllly let the old pads go before the change. So the change is dramatic.
Because I went all OEM, the brakes don't need to heat up be effective like it would with Hawk HPS+ or EBC Blue Stuff. On the street the car stops on a dime. No extra squel or noise just solid braking. The rotors fill the stock 18" wheels. Again Pix to follow.
On road test, I only got the ABS to enage once on a full out stop. This was on an aspalht road with all the of the side roads dirt roads, so the surface isn't the best. I think having the V36 with the BBK is the best of the G35 and G37 sedans all in one car.
I am anxious to get it on a road course, but it will probably be a while.
SoundMike, Don't know why but on my G I did need to cut the front dust shields the lip of the old shield was right into the rotor.
