How long is normal to leave car before battery dies?

So I know Nissan/Infiniti seem to be pretty bad for OEM batteries living a short life. Knowing this, I swapped mine out last year for a Costco version with more capacity.

Never had an issue until this week when I got back from about 2-1/2 weeks vacation and the car was totally dead. I've posted on some non-specific car forums and a lot of people run into similar issues, so I'm thinking this might be somewhat normal - but I've went 1-2 months with other cars without any issue.

Just a crummy morning going back to work with a dead car.

It all depends on the car really, with the G there are so many electronics that are running when the car is parked with its security system with the i-key its always got to have come current going to that system and so forth many other electronics that we dont even know about taht need to be running while the car is off.

Iv gone a 2 week vacation and the car started up fine but i can see the battery dying after 2/5-3 weeks going by the consensus here, my advice is to disconnect the battery negative when leaving for over 2 weeks to assure you dont come back to a dead battery.

Kool brought up a good point before. DO you have any aftermarket electronics that are running. Not everything we put in our cars is "well behaved" in as much as power consumption goes. Another thing that would definitely kill it is if you accidentally left the ignition button it in ACC mode or left a dome light on or something. I've gone a few weeks before with no trouble at all, but the electronics are all bone stock. I had a family member who's battery suddenly kept dying so I took a look at it and found the stereo installer who'd previously worked on the car had wired up the aftermarket sub amp to unswitched power. The parasitic drain was enough to kill the battery if he car wasn't driven every day.

temperature in the area where u leave your car matters too. for example, leaving your car unstarted for a month in the winter vs a month unstarted during the summer will have different effects as well. the car's battery is more likely to die in the first scenario i mentioned.

It was garaged. Average temp was about 70, so almost perfect conditions for the battery.

Only thing non-OEM on my car is a remote starter that I don't use in summer.

^ well even though u dont use the starter, it is continually drawing current from the battery when the car is off to keep the system active when needed unless you disconnected it. I too have AM start system and it draws some current all the time.

^^ Yep, sounds like the likely culprit.

ditto. Have a Battery Tender Jr. which comes with a nice harness that I access from the windshield wiper area. My G is a weekend car mostly so connect it up all the time in winter or on long trips.
