$198 for rear pad installaion (labor only) + rotor resurface?

My nearest Nissan dealer wants to charge me $198 for rear pad installaion (labor only) + rotor resurface?

Too much? Can Infiniti dealer match it?

Yeah, too much.

I got my pads and rotors changed out from a local mechanic for less than $600. I bought the parts myself from Amazon, (or whatever parts you want,) and then had my mechanic do it for $250 for all four wheels.

OEM rotors and brake pads are pretty bad anyways, since the rotors warp easily and the pads aren't very durable.

They are only charging you the price for labor, not for the parts too? Yeah, that's REALLY expensive then. My Infiniti dealer charges less.

My Infiniti dealer just quoted me $299 per side to replace pads and resurface rotors. Is that as ridiculous as it sounds?

Should i just try it on my own? I'm handy, but have never replaced pads before.

Either that or call some local shops that work on our cars. Keep in mind dealerships love taking excessive money from our wallets.

Yes dealer is screwing you.

Find a better shop or do it on your own.

I just purchased some hawk ceramic (rear) and took it to my local nissan dealer and was changer $189 for the install and turning rotors. I'm currently on vacation but have the matching fronts sitting at home and will have them do it again.

Certain things I can/will do. Brakes, I will let the pros take care of it for me.

Lol guys. Honestly just do the labor yourself. It's such a simple task that you'll think to your self "why the hell would I pay someone to do something so easy" Took me 30 mins to do both sides (rears) on mine.

+ 1

Did all four wheels, resurfaced rotors, and bleed brakes yesterday.

Did have trouble finding front pads in stock.

I changed my rear pads 2 weeks ago. Went to Canadian tire and bought pads, changed it myself in under 30 minutes. you don't even need to remove both of the bolts on the caliper, remove the top one and just turn the caliper til the pads can be removed. Its so easy and simple, and I'm not dead yet so I guess I changed it properly :P

I did my pads and rotors on my own. Never doing brakes again. What a pain in the ***. For me it is more of a safety issue. At the end of the day, i can live with paying $100 to have the guys who do this crap every day install my **** correctly. It isn't like these things require a whole lot of maintenance. Rather not ruin my warranty.

Dealers have to charge a certain amount but it is interesting how it changes from place to place. They are the backbone of a dealer you know. Have to pay to run the place because the sales department sure as **** doesn't make any money.
