For anyone else with ac compressor noise (video)
#17
UPDATE: Well just as i suspected it to be. It's either a shim thats worn out or a shim that got disintegrated. Heres a video! You can see me pulling on the clutch plate outward and the space it creates between the two. I can't unscrew the center nut due to space. I gotta get myself a impact ratchet as i can't find a clutch holding tool around here.
Update 2: put everything together and pulled a little on that clutch plate out. turned on the car and bam, no noise at all. completely quiet with ac on and ac off. But then noise comes back after a while. Space clearance is suppse to be 0.012 - 0.024 inches. Use a feeler gauge to measure.

OP here. Heres a post i did to someone who asked me if i fixed the problem regarding this issue
After all these months i'm getting a slight scrapping noise when off. But i've only heard it once or twice since then. Might have been temperature related. I have to find the papers which had the measurements of the shims. So i can say so far so good.
Yea i fixed mines by just getting a washer i had laying around here. increased the spacing by a small amount. and i mean a very small amount. I was also having problems with the spacing thinking it was too much because it would disengage at high RPM's. Turned out there was rust build up where the plate face and compressor would meet. clean that up and and now it's working great. Theres 3 shims, a very thin (paper thin), a fatter one and a "fatso" shim. I managed to lose the paper thin as i was mixing and matching them up with the washer to get the perfect spacing. I want to make it clear that it fixed the scraping noise when it's off. But the other noise it makes when it's on (the whine) is still there. Taking off the bolt in the middle of the face plate was a pain. I had to buy an electric impact ratchet by ingersoll rand to take it off. ONE THING!, dont tighten the bolt with the ratchet as mines broke off the head which left the rest inside the thread. Lucky it wasnt tight. i was able to get it off with my index finger lmao. Bolt only needs 9-lb to tighten.Just get a normal ractchet to tighten I got this number from the 2004 maxima service manual. Infiniti doesnt give you the number in their manuals, bastards.
