I've searched through the manual and poked around a little online but cannot find anything definitive about whether an 08 G35x Sedan has a fuel reserve or not. Either it does or the gas bar I filled up at over the weekend calibrated the pumps to rip people off because I put 64.5 litres (17.03 gal) into a 60 litre (15.85 gal) tank 0.o

 

The fuel tank is 76litres (20 US gal).

Ummm...what makes you think a 2008 g35x has a 15 gallon tank? Its not. Its 20 gallons.

 

I've filled up from just about bone dry 6 times, there is no way this car has even a 70 litre tank let alone a 75 litre tank. Just because the stock is 20 gallons doesn't me it wasn't changed!

 

Ughhmmm...okay. I guess.

 

I would ask why you have a 15.5 gallon tank from a different vehicle, on a 4 y/o G...but...I just don't care

 

If you believe this to be a possibility then your first post is moot and no one here could help answer your question based on a non-stock fuel tank.

As we said, a stock 2007+ G35/G37 sedan fuel tank is 76L or 20 US gal.

 

I had no reason to think the tank was not stock as the only other owner was a lease. I'll get under the car and measure the tank after work because it does not hold anywhere near 76 litres.

 

I've had a 2007 G35 X (4years) and now a 2011G37S. I have never been able to get more than about 65/66L in the tanks after the gas light comes on. Same goes for most guys here.
There is a reserve of a couple gallons.
I'm going to say that you put 64.5 litres (17.03 gal) into a 76 litre (20 US gal) tank and that it's completely normal.

if your only able to fill 15 gallons when you get the fuel warning light, I would maybe check with the dealer I remembered there was a tsb for it, I believe that the infiniti should have a capacity of 20 gallons just like every says but its not all in one tank there is actually a small seperate tank and there is a pump that pushes gas between the two and sometimes that pump doesn't work.

 

He said he put in a little over 17 US gal. It's normal. Everything is alright.

 

 

Yeah! Show that gas station what's up! But make sure you get under the car while its moving, so you can get an accurate measurement

 

I don't understand why people seem to have such a hard time reconciling how the tank capacity is not the same as the calibration of the fuel gauge, and hence the whole concept of a RESERVE.
