Drain and fill or transmission flush

Hey guys I have a 2007 g35s in auto transmission I called 2 Infiniti dealers today and they both told me two different things
One told me that they recommend a drain and fill for $219
The other told me they only do flushes and that they don't do drain and fills since it doesn't remove all the dirty oil for $201
I got 72k and I'm not really sure who to go with the flush or the drain and fill instead
I heard that sometimes a flush is not the best thing to do but there is also alot of mixed opinions and reviews
what do you all think or recommend
Any input would be great guys
Thank you

I have always been told that a flush is necessary for an auto tranny. I would get a flush at 72K. Its when you get higher in mileage that i would probably only drain and fill. Only because flushing on a high mileage tranny could knock some sludge free and plug up the small ports and valves inside the transmission. Thats only my opinion

Thank you

I have always flushed my tranny. I am at 97K and have flushed it 3 times. Once at 30k, then at 60k , and just recently at 90k. I haven't had any problems with my tranny what so ever. IMO opinion I think it's stupid to do a drain and fill. Why add fresh fluid to old fluid? But, I know some people on here drain and fill until the AT fluid is nice and pink.

True, but, I rather have a flush done to my tranny and have the most clean fluid I can have if I'm not going to have it done for another 30k.

A few things:

Comparing a drain and refill of a tranny pan to your engine oil pan is silly since the percentage of fluid replaced in your motor is like 95%, whereas in the tranny it's only like 30-40%.

Also, the term "flush" is loosely used and means different things. Sometimes it means they actually run a solvent through the system under pressure, sometimes it means the just run replacement fluid under pressure through the system, sometimes it just means they open the line to the cooler and intercept the old fluid as it heads out and then replace a like amount directly back into the oil pan.

TO complicate it even more, the Factory Service Manual's procedure is not called a flush. They refer to "replacement" and use what is essentially a drain and refill method, except they drain from the exit of the cooler instead of the oil pan.

This all makes it really hard to infer what is truly good and what is bad when you read/hear anecdotal info from various sources that may or may not be talking about he same thing.

Good point, vq.

My experience with Nissan's in general --- especially the VQ-engines, is to do a drain and fill. I've read more problems with VQ's being machine flushed versus those who do regular intervals of drain/fills.

What I dont get is that why would the other Infiniti dealer say that they can only flush the system instead of doing a drain and refill
I guess they are just trying to win me over to go with them instead I guess
So do you all guys recommend to just do a drain and refill instead then since this is the first time changing the transmission fluid?

If the flush is performed properly then I would do it. But I just recently had a flush done and have proof that they did almost nothing.

Drain and fill is easy to do and they cant really screw it up.

Same here.... bastards were supposed to do a free one since they overfilled my tranny back 30k ago, and made it leak out of the blow vent under hard driving. I checked the fluid color, its exactly the same... flush my ***... IF they did anything it was a drain and fill.. doubt that either.

Doing my next change my self as a drain and fill.
