Mind of its own - Random window/light operation

My daughter just came home and asked 'whats going on with your car?"

It was parked in the driveway for an hour, so I said - "nothing - why".

She said she jsut pulled up and notices the drivers windows was going up and down, passenger window and rear wind also doing the same, inside lights flashing, etc. They it stopped.

Indeed when I went outsidee the drivers windows was half way down,

I give up - what is the car trying to tell me ( other than it being possessed).???????

Had this happened during the week, I'd likely end up with a dead battery - so this is pretty serious.

Any hints?

Make sure you're not accidentally pressing the key fob buttons n your pocket; depending on your proximity to the car, it can pick up from quite a distance. It is also possible that the key fob unit is malfunctioning itself too.

Yes, it can; it's all in the normal operational capabilities of the fob. All the details are covered in the Owner's Manual.

The fob is not going to make the windows go back up.

OP - go outside and hold your unlock button to see what happens.

^^ Yep, yep, you are right kristof. It's only with the metal key in the door lock that you can roll them up. Good catch.

Well, it does what it always does, headlights flash, and the door unlocks

HOLDING the unlock does not to anything special for me. Are you saying holding the unlock key is supposed to open the windows????

Yes, holding the button down for another 5 seconds or so will start the windows rolling down. If it doesn't, you either have a bad battery in the fob (can't hold signal for long enough to activate down function) or else the intelligent key system and/or lock system is malfunctioning. A quick test to see if your windows will work when activated with the lock system is to pull the metal key out of the fob and use it in the driver's door lock.Turning left or right unlocks or locks the door, and as with the remote, if held for another 5 seconds or so in either position it will activate the windows up or down accordingly.

Again, as I mentioned before, this is all detailed in the manual. If you don't have one, you can download it for free from Infinitihelp.com.
