If you do the math, in theory, 1mpg/20mpg=5% =$4.30 x5%= $.22 per gallon more for premium. Approx same $/mile. In theory.

Other than trying to document my somewhat poor (in my mind) gas mileage that I was seeing in the winter when I started, i was also try to see if 93 was worth it. I basically concluded it that 93 was about the same cost and that I might as well benefit from the perceived performance increase and what is hopefully better for the engine. i use 93 exclusively now.

I know this is not the greatest mpg ever. but this is pretty good for my avg.

it was at 25.8mpg on the freeway, and loss 0.2 avg mpg driving from freeway to my place

it was about 75-80% freeway, cruised at around 70mph, that was the avg from about three to four 40 miles trips like that (i think, but definitely not the first freeway trip right after resetting the avg mpg, haha), no hills, 34 psi on tires 18" stock sports rims, not drafting after truck

I'm not saying that your panel MPG reading is wrong, but that's not always an accurate method. The most accurate method is dividing miles since last full fillup, by gallons at the time of the new full fill up...not reading off a cheap cluster gauge.

Well, I have to say that I'll disagree with you about that comment. The mpg gauge in the speedo cluster is actually very accurate (IIRC, it it tabulates the the actual number of injector pulses and their duration) . I do reset it (the mpg) as well as my trip meter with every fill-up. When dividing the miles driven since the last fill-up by the actual gallons used to fill the tank again, I ALWAYS get virtually identical numbers. Any error deviation is never more than could be accounted for by differences in how much I topped off the tank or articulation points in the mpg readout (ie. the readout tends to jump in 0.2 mpg increments at a time, so if it were JUST about to change, your display could be off by a tenth or so accordingly). Regardless, it amounts to no more than a 2% error. You can call it what you like, but I'd say that's pretty darn accurate.

I guess I've been getting 30-38mpg over the last month then but yeah its different because I have an aftermarket fuel setup. But I'm glad yours is accurate. I'm a believer in old school actual miles/gallons. Before going FI I noted over a years time that sometimes the gauge MPG were very close, and sometimes not. However I didn't always reset it like you mentioned. Good info.

And that is exactly what the gauge does. When used properly, and without being deceived by modifications to either the fuel system or the effective drive-train gearing (including tire/wheel sizing), the computer knows exactly how many miles you have driven and can tell exactly how much fuel you've used, so it's very simple for it to divide the miles by the gallons; your classic old-school method. It just does it in silicon instead of on the back of a gasoline receipt.

I noticed I get 340-350 usually combination of highway and city... highway alone I get 460-480 Max. Are u guys with the low mileages replacing ur engine air filters when they get dirty? It does make a difference.

Amen I replace mine with some k&n filters about a week ago and there is a difference in the drive and mpg it is noticeable and FYI my oem filters before were about 50 life to them and it was still a big difference.

Yea I drive only city, all stop and go traffic I rarely drive at 80km/h+, and I don't think all wheel drive helps either haha. Nice, how big if your turbo?
