Running with out TPS
Running with out TPS
On my 2006 Jeep, the sensors were the cheap bare minimum required by Uncle Sam.
When I bought rims and tires, I ran without TPS...all I got was a blinky light.
Eventually I will be buying tires for my 07 Journey. It looks like tire dealers automatically want to charge for TPS rebuilds.
Can I avoid paying for this?
Can I disable the TPS system in my car?

I haven't had TPMS active on mine since I got my 20s 3 yrs ago. The light will blink for about 30 seconds then stay lit. You can always put a strip of electrical tape over the light if it bugs you but It's not obtrusive and easy to ignore.
You don't need to have sensors in the wheels. Many of us go without them 4-5 months at a time, with our winter tire sets.
I don't find the dash light to be bothersome at all.
You can't simply disable the TPMS system. If there's a will there's a way but it wouldn't be an easy thing to do correctly.
