need new brakes

hey guys. i have the 08 G35xS sedan. time has come for new brakes and rotors, so i was wondering if i should go with some cross drilled slotted stoptech rotors and pads or with the OEM infiniti sport brakes for my car. any input is appreciated. thank you

also, is it worth upgrading to the stainless steel brake lines? thanks for the advice in advance

If you like the looks of the drilled rotors, then go for it. But don't expect a performance upgrade. Drilled holes are really for race-type pads which offgas during heavy braking. Modern passenger cars don't do this, so the holes are more for show. Pick a quality brand rotor such as Stoptech or Centric. I've had good luck with Centric on my G35 which i've don't brakes twice on already.

SS braided lines make the pedal feel great, but on a street car I wouldn't say they are necessary. A good brake bleed might be all you need.

There's really no need to go with a drilled rotor, they crack easily if used for track/autox, if the car is used for a DD blanks will do you just fine. We have these in stock actually.

Pads if you want low dust go with the Hawk Ceramics, a bit more dust but more bite, get the HPS or the stoptechs. Stoptechs will judder easier than the HPS. Both great pads none the less.

Both items rotors and pads are in stock and we can ship them today.

I've got a 2008 G35x and I'm starting to look around for pad and rotor replacements. My local dealer in Toronto wants $1400 to replace all 4 but when I called a dealer in NY State, they quoted approximately $500. Definitely makes it worthwhile to drive down there for the savings. What sort of prices should I be seeing for this type of service?

I bought my set from KNS Brakes (Brother Recommended me to buy) and i got the Hawk HPS and centric rotors for a great price! Ken Was really helpful and im sure he will give even a better discount to our forum. (really wished i got the low dust pads though, hate how dirty my wheels get) but awesome stopping power even though i dont race and such.

Is it better to buy the parts separately and will the dealer install these parts or would I have to find a local garage to do it?

^Depends on the dealer. Mine would change to aftermarket stuff If i wanted them to. But im done with that crap. I had all my brakes upgraded and thought the car felt worse. Put some OEMs back on and my car feels like new. Never doing that again..

brakes are easy as hell to do on the G, just need a basic metric set of wrenchs and you can do it yourself lol and save yourself half a grand

When it comes to electronic or electrical tasks I have no problem doing it myself but I was never comfortable doing mechanical car related jobs.

I don't recommend doing brakes on this car unless you are normally good with mechanical ****.

I did brakes on my car (something i'v never done) with someone who also wasn't experienced with it and it ended up just messing **** up. I had to spend an extra $350 to fix what got messed up and created more hassle and hell that I definitely knew wasn't worth it. Pads were in backwards, clips weren't on right. Something got bent or something and now my car randomly grinds at low speeds (even after being fixed) so yea i haven't had a good experience. I drive a 26,000 car, i can stomach the extra $100-$200 to have them installed properly every 50k miles..

Does anyone have recommendations for a good auto shop that deals with Infiniti's in the Toronto area?
