Wheel bearing or what?

I am hearing a whomp whomp sound at low speeds especially on decel. Turning left to right does not change the tone very much. It is more pronounced when turning to the right though. It sounds like the front right wheel. The faster I go the less I hear the noise. There is no vibration in the steering wheel and when I shake the wheel itself, it does not have any play really. The tires have NO CUPPING as well. Dealer said they would inspect it for free but my main man is out until the 21st. He will hook me up so I might wait for him. Any body have any ideas. It has gotten worse over the past 2 weeks.

Wheel bearing is very poss. how many miles on car? also maybe tech can ride with you to help diagnois, if your sure the tires are NOT the cause of this, its only bearings, and rotors left.....

Definitely sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. What tires are you running?

Easiest way to find out- Jack up the corner making noise, and see if it wobbles physically. Push and pull top and bottom of wheel.

Something easy to try (and just to eliminate it) while you're waiting for your friend to come back would be to swap the tires front to back and see if the noise follows them. I agree with others the though, from the description it sounds like a bearing. I just don't know whether or not it's the wheel bearing or in the front drive-train. If it was a rotor, I think you'd have some pulsing in the brake pedal and/or feel some slight variations in braking feel.

+1

Super easy to do and wouldn't take more than five minutes to figure out if that's what is making the sound.

Prolly bearing... the wheel bearing on this car is notoriously poor. Every research I've done on my humming noise points to my rear bearings... going in after the hurricane crap settles to fix it under warranty

Remember, you can still have bearing noise while exhibiting a tight feel during a shake test. It's impossible to replicate the full effect of the weight of the car with just your hands.

Yes it is possible, but most likely shaking it will work.

I am running goodyear assurance tires. They have15-20k on em and are rotated regularly.

The car has 84000 miles on it.

I tried the shake test and the wheel is sturdy.

I might get the hub assembly and do the replacement with my buddy. Dealer wants 270 but I can get it at checker auto for 171. That is the supposedly the high quality bearing. Does anybody have any DIY info on this. I did search all over but I couldn't find my exact year and model info.

Could also be a tire issue. Sounds similar to an issue i had before, but after fixing alignment and a new set of tires, everything is back to normal.

Here's the wheel bearing DIY . . . listed under wheel bearing DIY (who'd of thought to look for that ) :
https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...aring-diy.html

Anyway, what if it's a CV joint or axle bearing, or (inexplicably) a tire? I think I'd want to verify the problem better before I started shotgunning big parts.
