Oil catch can?

K guys have another ? for you! So I'm thinking of buying an oil catch can and really don't know much about them and what they do. I am buying it really to dress up the engine bay but what do they really do? Are they pretty easy to install and what are the pros and cons. Thanks ahead of time and again you guys

I've got a couple used ones if you want to save money saiko michi, pretty badass.

Basically what a catch can does is catch any excess oil blowby that is being sucked out of the pcv valve from the heads, the stock setup has it going into the plenum and mixing with the air going into the motor to be reburned for emissions purposes

Send me some pics if u can. A vendor is selling for 40 bucks. I'm sure there are much better than what they are selling though. Thanks for the info, sounds like its worth getting. Also I read you can place the can anywhere you want, is that true and how easy is install?

you can mount them anywhere, you're basically just splicing it in the middle of the hose that goes from the pcv valve (front passenger side valve cover) to the front of the plenum. If you look at it you will see a short piece of hose connecting it directly in stock form.

So instead of the oil being recycled back into the engine, it's caught in the can? Maybe it's just Friday, but I'm still not seeing an advantage here.

These are popular on cars with FI, . . . you know, where they can actually do something useful.

i guess cus its better to have the oil collect into the can vs collecting and dirtying up the manifold
