Are you sure you have an AWD model? Or maybe the X got glued there but it's not an AWD...... to be honest with brand new blizzaks (which are great winter tires) and AWD you should be able to plow snow 6-8" deep, I know because I have done it, here in Canada we get a lot of it, that was the reason I went to AWD and it does work great......

And drum roll please...... Stuck in my damn driveway. Slip light comes on, power to wheels cut and i go no where....hate to say it but this seems like a $20,000 mistake..... My friends mustang doesnt even get stuck... Grrrrrr before i sell this is there anything else aside from chains that ... I ..... can do to check and see if theres something wrong with my AWD
You need someone on the outside to tell you which wheels are moving when you step on the gas in the snow. Try to spin your tires.

Im thinking, as the above poster stated, you may have a RWD model. Previous owner could have added the "x" to the trunk for some odd reason.

If you do in fact have an X, then perhaps there is something wrong with the electronics that run the front wheels.

How do you explain the snow button then?

^ haha..I was just about to write the same thing. Glad I saw your post first this time.

Also, the OP claimed "Stuck in my damn driveway" so gunning it to get the wheels spinning is likely a dangerous proposition.
Something is wrong with the system.

Maybe one or two of the tires have such low pressure that its slipping vs the others that r gripping?

Damned strange problem ... when we had this BS nor'easter few days ago I drove my baby with snow button, so I can help my friend get his POS manual VW out of the snow on 1st gear :P
