Power Steering Flush or DIY reservoir pump?
Power Steering Flush or DIY reservoir pump?
My G is coming up on 5-years old and I've changed all fluids - even front and rear diffs and transfer case - but not the power steering fluid. What do you guys recommend?
1. Do nothing - it's fine to not change
2. Use a hand pump - in my Lexus I was able to pump out 1/2 quart from the reservoir, add ATF, drive a week, and repeat
3. Get a power steering flush
Thanks.

1. Did you inspect the PS fluid? If it's redish/transparent then leave it, it's fine. If it's become black and impossible to see through then change it.
2. If you are going to change it then this is the easiest DIY method for the average person.

It's simple enough to change it out. Either a turkey baster or hand pump will work just fine. Here's a 'local' (ie. V36) DIY for you:

Soundmike's DIY saved me a ton of money and o spent 12 bucks doing something stealershit would have charged me 80+ for. Its easy as hell... go buy a 3 dollar siphon pump or a Turkey baster like VQ said.
