Battery dead - no access to trunk

My car battery died today ( still dont know why)...but I could not open the trunk to get cables.

Tried a few things:
- remote did not open it
- in-car trunk lever did not open it
- rear armrest got me to the rear of the trunk, but not near cables or flashlights

Called the autoclub ; they tested and boosted the battery. I am now back home.

Could not find any answers on this forum or on Google ..... I did find that on the M35, there is a cyclinder for the fob key the opens the trunk ( much like the driver door)...but only on the M35.

So, how do you do it on the G35X ?

Surely they did not design this car in such a way to have the trunk inaccessible the very time you need it!

Think the only way is the inside trunk lever.

will you be able to reach the inside trunk lever from the trunk pass through?

Good question. Also it is easy to find/see that lever?? its a small pass-through...and I have no access to a flashlight ( that is elsewhere in the trunk!)

Seems to me this is a very bad, not-well-thought-out design. I like the M35 idea of a key.

Your arm is plenty long enough to reach the release cable from the trunk pass thru. Shouldn't be a problem, it is dead center of the trunk lid. Just reach up and feel around then pull.

iv done it couple of times through the trunk pass through without any problem. The lever is supposed to glow in the dark and is faintly visible but its not needed, just stick you hand straight through the middle of the pass through and towards the top and you will feel the lever since that the only thing there. With that said i agree that its kinda of a pain to do if/when the battery dies but it is a very rare thing so it doenst annoy me.

Just did some research and seems like its the same issue with many other car manufacturers with ikey as well

agreed.. i kinda like the little figure "if you find yourself going for a ride in your trunk pull here and run!"
well that's what mine looks like. but back on topic, as the other people have mentioned you can only access the release lever through the trunk pass through. Maybe keep mechanical fingers in the garage or closet just in case?

i do it all the time. just open the fold down from the back seat and reach for the cables lol Common sense bro. You dont even need to do the trunk release.

Heck, he doesn't even know how to get to the Lever. I guess not very many people explore their cars besides getting in and driving the crap out of it hahahaha.

I remember when I had my 04G35, my gas cap actuator died. Boy oh boy, had just enoug gas to get to the dealership. Infiniti came out with a cable (just like the trunk cable) if that ever happens again, just have to pull the side trunk lining a bit and pull cable.

Can you provide a photo of these cables?
The glow in the dark latch is way too far for me to reach.

Harbor Freight gives out free flashlights with a coupon.

I suggest you keep one in your glove box.

this recently happened to me because one of the doors didn't fully close leaving the dome light on overnight. Just reached in the trunk from the back seat fold down.
