2008 G35XS Auto Reverse problem!!!

Hey guys, I'm new on here. Haven't posted anything until now that I have an issue with.... I'm guessing my transmission.

The car drives perfect. Up until recently the car had no problem going in reverse. Until one day I tried to parallel park it into a spot and it just reved and didn't go anywhere. I put it in park for a little bit then tried it again. Still stationary and wouldn't drive in reverse. Then I got frustrated and reved to about 4-5k and that's when the car actually engaged and started rolling backward while in the reverse gear.

Do you guys know why this is happening and if you think I'm gonna have to replace/rebuild the tranny.

Thank you for any sort of response.

Sounds like you may have a problem with your tranny. You might have to go see a mechanic about testing it.

It sounds like your gears are slipping. Have you changed transmission oil before?

sounds like a valve body issue to me which would be a cheaper fix than the whole tranny. with that being said it seems you have an 08 so it should be covered under 6 year/70k miles powertrain warranty as long as youre under 70k you should be covered no issues...

Probably a longshot, but as a simple DIY exercise though, it might be good to eliminate any possibility that it's the shift linkage causing the problem.

I've had the car for a year and I have not replaced the transmission fluid. I'm going to a Transmission specialist this morning to diagnose the problem. I'll let you guys know what the outcome is. Hopefully it's not an arm and a leg to fix.

I forgot to mention my car has a salvaged title. So the warranty is automatically voided. The only thing that they still covered was the seatbelt assembly. Which I needed to replace when I first got it.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Don't you just hate it when people don't bother to follow up with their own threads (where they asked for help from everyone else)?

I got a quote from a local auto repair shop for about $1800 of replacing the trany with another the used one takes about 2 days or rebuild the trany for about the same price but takes about 5 days. I have to bring it to the dealer on Monday to see what the outcome is. Does any one here got any similar issue and got it fixed? Thanks

FYI. 2 Dealers quoted $2700 and $2500 for the tranny repair, brought to the local tranny shop got them dropped the price to $1600 with fully synthetic tranny oil. 4 days later my baby is back on the road again. My next car wont be an infiniti.

Ok, that would actually have been a 6 year/ 70K miles powertrain warranty, but you're well past that at 74K miles.

So again, I ask WHICH warranty did they not honor? If you're pissed at your bad luck, then fine, but why make the dishonest claim that Infiniti didn't stand by their warranty?

There is a big difference between being disgruntled at your own bad luck and falsely calling out a company for reneging on a contract. Seems like I see this all the time anymore; something bad happens and it's ALWAYS got to be somebody else's fault.
